... the Lagazuoi and his cliff tunnels; scene of the 1st World War
In the 1st World War the front ran along the Dolomites. Today is still possible to finds tracks of this war, as for example in the mountain Lagazuoi.
This 2,800 m high mountain is a witness of the bitter fights between the Austrian and Italian Alpine troops.
The Lagazuoi open-air museum can be reached by marked paths from Falzarego Pass and Valparola Pass or by the cable railway Falzarego-Lagazuoi which reaches the top in only three minutes.
Several kilometres of tunnels were burrowed into the mountain during the 1st World War. They have been recently restored and made easy to walk in by installing guide ropes and steps.
