Ski Tours

..: Ski Tour "The nature reserves"
This tour follows an unbroken path through the cultural landscape of Alta Badia, within the confines of the Puez-Odle and Fanes-Sennes-Braies Nature Parks. From Colfosco you swing over in the cabin car into the Val Stella Alpina, beginning the day on Col Pradat and Forcelles, unique panoramic viewing points on the edge of the Puez high plain.

The tour moves further on to Corvara and up on to the skiing arena around Col Alto, Piz Sorega and Piz La Villa. You'll see marvellous skiing slopes far into the distance ! Going over one of them towards La Villa and onwards to Gardenezza, you'll have the mighty peak of the Sassongher in view.
The Ladin 'viles', typical hamlets made out of stone and larch wood with their combination of brooks and baking ovens are still to be found here. Some of these farmsteads can be seen on the way over Pedraces and San Leonardo up to Santa Croce, the high point of the tour.

..: Churches and cuisine
Although it is not the easiest task in the world to reconcile earthly pleasures with those of a more spiritual nature we can but try! The church of Santa Croce, a sanctuary of worship and great tradition throughout the ages, can be reached from either Pedraces or San Leonardo . A meditative stop to share the experience of many pilgrims before us and then we can move on to the joys of the palate!
At the nearby Santa Croce rifugio you can enjoy the Ladin specialities - polenta, cheeses, speck, a special barley soup known as 'panicia'. At the end of a long day you can find out how the Gran Bracun, the renowned knight, once fought and defeated the dragon of Santa Croce as you enjoy a good glass of wine to finish off the perfect day.

..: The Santa Croce skitour
Among the classic panoramic - gastronomic ski tours of Alta Badia, Skitour S Croce undoubtedly ranks among the best.  Its highly technological artificial snow system means that the slopes are always in excellent condition.   The zone, thanks to its slopes of easy - medium difficulty, is ideal both for families and skiers who want to spend a relaxing day at one with the nature and culture of our valley.
The Santa Croce sanctuary at 2045 metres is well worth a visit, as are the  small, characteristic mountain refuges which serve excellent hot food.

..: The Lagazuoi ski tour
Leaving from one of the villages in the Alta Badia you reach the Hotel Armentarola in San Cassiano from where the taxis leave that go to the Passo Falzarego where you can find the cable car that leaves for the Lagazuoi. As a “warmer” you should try the red slope that takes you back to Passo Falzarego; you are then ready to try the “true descent of the Lagazuoi”, as it is known - the Armentarola piste.
This ski slope that stretches for 7.2 km and has an altitude difference of 1,130 m descends through the mountains until the Sass Dlacia campsite from where, pulled by horses, you arrive at the ski lift that takes you back up to the skiing merry-go-round.

..: The Val Stella Alpina
Starting in Colfosco (connected trough slopes and lifts with the other towns in Alta Badia)  you swing over in the cabin car into the Val Stella Alpina.
The wide, well prepared slopes make the area to a loved meeting point for families and more relaxed skiers. Skiing in this sunny area, surrounded by imposing Dolomites peaks, you will enjoy an unforgettable panorama view to the Val Mezdì in the Sella massif.

..: Ski tour of the first World War
The tour winds around the Col di Lana mountain, testimonial of many battles during the 1st World War (1915 – 1918). Starting from Alta Badia and passing trough the Passo Campolongo you reach Arabba and from here Malga Ciapela (from Malga Ciapela you can take the lifts to the Marmolada glacier – these lifts are included in the Dolomiti Superski skipass). From Malga Ciapela continue with the skibus to Alleghe and from Alleghe you can ski till Pescul where you take a skibus till the Fedare refuge. Gone up to the Averau you ski down the Cinque Torri slopes till the Cinque Torri parking, where you take a bus for the Lagazuoi. From the Lagazuoi you continue to Alta Badia following the already described itinerary “Lagazuoi”.

Technical information:
Total length of the tour: 82,50 km
Total length of the slopes: 31,00 km
Total length of the lifts: 18,00 km
Horse carriage: 1,5 km
Total time: 7/8 hours approx.

Snow shoes excursions
Ciaspole”, shoes for walking on the snow, are made of a light alloy that, fixed to the feet, allow the wearer to “float” across the snow without sinking.
In order to take part in a trip on ciaspole you don’t need to be particularly fit or to prepare for a long time beforehand. Suitable for any age, trips on ciaspole will allow you to have a different kind of adventure.

Walking through woods and across alpine pasture land, even when it is snowing, will help you discover the most unspoilt of winter landscapes and perhaps will help you discover yourself  too!

Drawn carriages

People wanting a more tranquil experience can relax on a comfortable sledge pulled by a pair of norici or avelignesi horses and discover the enchanting winter landscape of Alta Badia.
